Master's Program Admission Process (Student Affairs Emphasis)
Application Information
To be considered for admission to the Master's of Science or Master's in Education degree program in Higher Education (Student Affairs), follow the submission process for ELPS.
Admissions Criteria
Admission to the Master's of Science or Master's in Education degree program in Higher Education (Student Affairs) will be based on potential for academic and professional success in student affairs based on the following criteria:
- A 3.00 GPA is typically required. Lower GPAs will be considered in special cases.
- Candidates with lower GPAs should include a letter asking for an exception and presenting a case for why they should be considered and present evidence that they will be successful graduate students.
- Strong recommendations from teachers, supervisors, or professional colleagues
- Experience is student organizations, paraprofessional employment in student affairs, and/or volunteer work
- Understanding of the student affairs profession and clear professional goals
- Strong writing skills demonstrated in the statement of goals
- Ability to secure an assistantship or employment in student affairs or a closely related area of higher education
